Saburo Miyamoto Museum of Art Special Exhibition "The 7th Miyamoto Saburo Memorial Drawing Grand Prize Exhibition - Pioneering Tomorrow's Expression

This competition has been held under the theme of "Drawing" in honor of the painter ・ Saburo Miyamoto, who was known as an excellent draftsman.

About the Exhibition
This competition has been held under the theme of "Drawing" in honor of Saburo Miyamoto, a painter ・ known for his outstanding drawings. The subtitle of the competition, "Pioneering the Expressions of Tomorrow," expresses the hope that the diverse images that underlie each artist's expression will expand the horizons of today's expression. This year, the seventh edition of the contest, received 684 entries from Japan and abroad. Thirteen works were selected as prize winners and 44 works were selected as Honorable Mention Award winners through rigorous judging. Throughout the long history of mankind, a single line has been the first step not only in pictorial expression, but also in literature, music, architecture, and all other forms of expression and creation. If we consider the line as an honest expression of the artist's mind, the accumulation and interplay of lines can be taken as traces of the artist's conflicts and attempts to approach the image he or she is striving for. We hope that through these works by artists living in the present time, we will be able to sense the possibility of new forms of expression that are transforming in tandem with the times.
